What a fantastic weekend away at the Kaapsehoop race resulting in a third place positions for Lesiba Peu in the 10km with a time of 31:01 and a third position for Donald Mashamaite in the 21.1km in a time of 1:05. And a personal best for Shaun Lagger in a time of 3:32 in the marathon. Congratulations to everyone who completed the race.
It was a chilly early morning start with the first bus leaving for Kaapsehoop at 3:00am from the Mbombela stadium. It may have started out chilly but soon was a 34 degree scorching hot day!!! Runners remarked on the well-stocked watering points along the route and the ice cold oranges certainly went down well.
A big thank you again to Ockie and Maryn for bring down the trailer – The ice cold drinks where life savers in the searing heat for both runners and supporters. The weekend ended with a social able dinner.
