The club that cares
A running and triathlon club in Bedfordview, Johannesburg East, where beginners, Comrades regulars and Ironman finishers train side by side. We call ourselves the club that cares.
Bedfordview Athletics, officially Bedfordview Country Club Athletics, is a running and triathlon club based at Bedfordview Country Club in Johannesburg East. We train every day of the week except Monday, and there is a training group to suit every level, from your first 5 km to your next Comrades Marathon or Ironman.
Our runs start from the top parking lot of Virgin Active Bedfordview at 05h00 from Tuesday to Friday and 06h00 on Saturday and Sunday. Your first run is on us. To keep running with the club, become a member.
We run in four schools, each with its own pace and distance, so nobody runs alone and nobody gets left behind:
Each school follows a programme designed by the club coach, so your training builds towards the races that matter to you. There is also an official walking group for members who prefer to walk.
Alongside road and trail running, the club has a growing triathlon section. Members swim at Virgin Active Bedfordview, ride together and do open-water swims at venues such as Bass Lake, Cradle Moon and Prime View, preparing for sprint, Olympic, half and full Ironman distances.
Members race under the Bedfordview Athletics colours with a Central Gauteng Athletics licence number, enjoy catered races and club socials, and are part of a community that shows up for each other, on the road and off it. See membership options.
